Today I’m adding a new section to the website. It doesn’t take much to guess what would be featured here when the page title is ‘Product Reviews’. Yes, I will occasionally be posting reviews on soccer related items – from books to soccer equipment.
As always, you’re encouraged to let me know what you think.

The good people at Soccerpro.com sent me a couple of items for me to review. Full disclosure, it’s my first time doing a review so bear with me.
* The first item, a Nike Soccer Ball Air Pump, was something I quite needed as I had a couple of soccer balls lying around the house in desperate need of an air pump.

Nike Soccer Ball Air Pump
For just $10, the pump comes with the small pump, connecting hose, and 3 extra needles. I grew up using the cumbersome ‘bicycle air pumps’ to also fill up my assorted sports balls. Thankfully, this Nike pump makes it really easy to sit down and have your soccer ball as good as new in around a minute. I don’t think this is the kind of item that calls for fanciness, so it’s pretty much it works or it doesn’t. As far as this one goes, it gets the job done and the size makes it very convenient when you live in a small apartment (read: me). I give it an: A

*The second item, a new Nike FC Barcelona Third Jersey 2009-10 – (Yellow)

A team jersey isn’t the kind of thing you can write extensively on, but I guess there’s always a couple of things you can say. I have had my eye on this jersey ever since it came out last season. It’s the kind of color and design where you either love it or hate it. While the yellow is actually quite bright, it’s nowhere as shocking as that ‘highlighter yellow’ that Chelsea was sporting not that long ago.
FC Barcelona has always been known for being the fashionistas of the futbol world and they usually do it with great taste. I particularly like how they incorporated the traditional blue/crimson colors in the two vertical stripes. Also, the Nike swoosh isn’t so prominent that it’s annoying – while the UNICEF logo and the club’s crest are well placed. Finally, to add a nice touch (and some extra classiness) ‘El Cant del Barca’ (The Song of Barcelona) is applied to the inside of the collar. All in all, a great jersey from a great club. I give it an: A
[The other jersey I now have my eye on is the really nice Goalkeeper's jersey for the 09-10 season]

*General SoccerPro.com service: Beyond the items received, a brief mention of the general company service is merited. I liked that UPS ground shipping was free (I hate paying for shipping). Also, they have a very unique ‘style’ that includes a relaxed way of approaching communication with the customer and some refreshing humor in business.
